The United States (Galileo) continues to deliver on his initial promise and he made all the running to take his tally to two wins from three starts this season in the Group 3 Enterprise Stakes at Leopardstown last Saturday over 10 furlongs.

He was strongly pressed by Elleval (Kodiac) nearing the last furlong but kept pulling out more to remain in front. The rain softened ground was a concern for this colt but he handled it well and could be set for a further rise in class. This was only his fourth career start so there could well be better to come from him.

The United States is a half-brother to the Gr.3 Ballyogan,Gr.3 Anglesey and Gr.3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes heroine Fire Lily (Dansili) who was also placed several times at Gr.1 level. They are the first two foals out the
classy Beauty Is Truth (Pivotal) who won the Gr.2 Prix du Gros-Chene and the Gr.3 Prix d’Arenberg. She is out of the Gr.3 Prix du Bois and Listed Prix Cercle scorer Zelding (Warning), who is the dam of the talented Glorious Sight (Singspiel), who won the Listed Prix Finlande, as well as finishing second in the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and third in the Gr.1 Prix de Diane.

Zelding’s siblings include the Gr.2 Prix Robert Papin winner Zipping (Zafonic), who also reached the frame in the Gr.1 Prix Morny and Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes. The third dam, Zelda (Caerleon), also produced the Gr.3 Prix du Petit Couvert victor Nipping (Night Shift) and the Listed-placed Aso Rock (King’s Theatre). Zelda is a half-sister to the outstanding Gr.1-winning sprinter and sire Last Tycoon (Try My Best) and the Gr.2 performer and sire Astronef (Be My Guest), from the family of the French Classic winners Tie Black and Valentine Waltz.
