On the 5th of September, Mabait followed up his recent victory with another win at Newmarket in the competitive Chris Blackwell Memorial Handicap but more importantly the Mark Crossman yearling purchase (30,000g) Maid A Million improved again to come third in the Listed October Stakes at Ascot, thereby gaining the all important black type which she will take to Ballylinch Stud where she will visit Dream Ahead.

The end of July and the month of August was busy with one trip to Ireland to see Dream Ahead and his first foals. Both father and children were looking great.
There was then a trip to Pau to see Prince Suhail, chez Francois Rohaut, who is progressing as a three year old over a mile and has now earned almost Euro40,000.
There was then the Select Sale at Deauville hosted by Arqana and we were successful in purchasing two smart yearling colts.
The first one (pictured) was a March 2012 colt by Teofilo, the sire of amongst other stakes horses, Parish Hall. His dam, Mulled Wine, has already produced two winners from three offspring of racing age. Her three year old son Cassini was placed second at Deauville since the purchase. Mulled Wine is a Night Shift half sister to Lily Of The Valley a Group 1 winning daughter of Galileo and Listed winner Calbuco. She is from the great family of Josr Algarhoud.
Mark’s second purchase was a January 2012 colt by Orpen, sire of many stakes winners including 2013 Prix Robert Papin winner Vorda. He is a big handsome colt who is very light on his feet. His winning dam is out of Prix du Bois (G3) winning Zelding and therefore is a half sister to G2 winning Beauty is Truth and Listed winner Glorious Sight. Zelding’s granddam is Mill Princess and it is therefore the family of great sire Last Tycoon, as well that of sire Astronef and Immortal Verse.
On the 9th July, two year old Mount Nelson filly, Clever Miss won her Maiden at the fourth attempt. Bought by Mark Crossman as a yearling at Tattersalls for just !2,000 guineas she looks to have a bright future…Deauville perhaps!
She brings Mr Dasmal’s winning tally to five this season.
According to the Racing Post, Dream Cast….came with a strong late run and was well on top at the line. This was at Catterick and now he heads to York for the £100,000 Charity Sprint Trophy.
Dream Cast was bought by Mark at the 2011 Deauville Paradis Sale for 90,000 Euros having missed him as a foal at Tattersalls December Sales.
This brings Mr Dasmal’s winning tally this season to four from eleven runners.
His twelth runner Prohibit runs in the Listed Prix Hampton at Maison-Lafittes tomorrow.
Yesterday at Salon Provence near Marseilles Prince Suhail, bought by Mark Crossman as a yearling at the 2011 Arqana Paradise Sale for Euro150,000, lost his maiden in a Premium Maiden over nine furlongs on his third start having always been placed previously. His trainer, Francois Rohaut, feels he will improve again over a little further next time. By Marju the three year old colt is out of Lawman, Satri and Latice’s sister Larme. He was bred by Lady O’Reilly’s Petra Bloodstock.
Maid A Million, a two year old Kyllachy filly trained by David Elsworth, made all at Lingfield on Thursday 5th December over six furlongs to win by three lengths. She became Mr Dasmal’s 9th winner of the season. She was bought for 30,000 guineas by Mark Crossman as a yearling at the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale of 2011.
Tartan Blue, bought by Robert Cowell and Mark Crossman for just £11,000 at DBS as a yearling went wire to wire at Kempton on her second start becoming Mr Dasmal’s 8th winner of the 2012 season.
Prohibit will defend his title in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot tomorrow. Later in the week Mr Dasmal fields Mabait in the Royal Hunt Cup on Wednesday or the Buckingham Palace Stakes on Friday, Spanish Wedding goes in the King George V on Thursday or the Queen’s Vase (Group 3) on Friday, and last but not least Noble Citizen will compete in the Buckingham Palace on Friday or the Wokingham on Saturday. In the meantime on Friday night Plum Bay is entered for Newmarket. This will mean five out of Mr Dasmal’s seven older horses are competing Royal Ascot week. All his juveniles remain unbeaten!
On the 8th June, Spanish Wedding, a 32,000 guineas 2011 Breeze Up purchase by Mark Crossman, became Khalifa Dasmal’s fourth individual winner of the year by taking the Crimbourne Stud Stakes at Goodwood by a comfortable two lengths.
