Crossman yearling purchase Diamond Wine was a comfortable top weight winner of a Class 2 conditions race in Deauville today. Mark knows the family well having previously bought his dam and his stakes winning Teofilo half brother. Diamond Wine disappointed in his first run at three having won at two. With €14,000 to the winner plus €8,000 odd in premiums though he has made quick amends. A more positive ride from the jockey plus first time blinkers didn’t do any harm I’m sure but the matter of his victory suggests he may not need the blinkers again. Master trainer Francois Rohaut will know for sure.

Visionary ran a great race in testing ground over six a Newbury to win the Listed Carnarvon Stakes last Saturday. This was a great prep for Royal Ascot where he has the opportunity to contest the Jersey Stakes (Group 3), the Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) or even the Brittania!
Visionary is special for Mark as he is the first stakes winner where Mark has bought the mother and the father as babies!
Three year old Visionary (Dream Ahead/Avodale) won a Conditions race comfortably at Wolverhampton over five furlongs on Saturday 7th January. Rated 91 before the win he is running back at Kempton Park next week over six. Both Visionary’s parents were bought as babies by Mark.
Visionary, a smart three year old colt by Dream Ahead out of Avodale won a good feature conditions race at Wolverhampton last Saturday over five furlongs. Rated 91 before the race he will run back at Kempton Park next week over six furlongs and should appreciate the extra furlong. Both his parents were bought by Mark as babies.
A brother to Doctor Dino, who is a stallion in France, was thought to be well bought at 55,000 guineas
And a beautiful Camelot sister to Harold Lloyd who was with Henry Candy and is now on the hunt for stakes glory with Cristophe Clement in the USA
Visionary had to miss his chance in the Cornwallis Stakes Gp3 and the Rockingham Stakes L this last week due to unseasonably fast ground. (a course record for two year olds at Newmarket was recorded). He will be entered in the Prix Zeddaan L at Maison-Lafitte later in the month and the Listed Prix Yacowlef at Chantilly in November. Visionary is by Dream Ahead who was bought by Mark as a breeze up horse at two and is out of Avodale who was bought by Mark as a yearling. He is Avondale’s first foal so it is important he achieves on the racecourse to the extent that he impresses at home. Avondale’s second foal is a good looking filly who will go into training with David Simcock.
Majeed, bought by Mark as a yearling in Deauville, has earned a tilt at the Group 1 Northern Dancer Stakes at Woodbine in Toronto on Saturday 17th September.
Led by Iffraaj colt out of Stacelita’s sister. More Sharmadal than Iffraaj we think: Big strong boy
More detail later
Majeed stayed on further to gain third in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. The mile and a half probably stretched him but the Racing Post believes he belongs in this company. Majeed was bought as a yearling by Mark at the Arqana August Sales in Deauville.
Marvellous Majeed, as the Racing Post called him, came from last to first to win a nice prize of over £12K at Great Yarmouth on the 13th July. This will now result in him being raised in the handicap to over 100 for the first time. It prompted his jockey (Andrea Atzeni) to say: That was a good performance as it was a good field.
On the same day but at Lingfield Jumeirah Star put herself now on a hatrick next time out, by winning her handicap off 61. Fingers crossed the blinkers continue to work and she can do it again of 66.
